ULTRA RARITIES
Ultra-Rarities are the best of the best. They are extremely rare with only a handful known to exist and sometimes may actually be the ONLY one to exist. They are fantastic works of art in superb condition. They are famous in the Numismatic world. They were made by important countries, such as the British Empire.
The market for Ultra Rarities has now grown to the point that buying the very best can cost millions per coin. Furthermore, it could be many years or a generation for a great treasure to come on the market. If the moment is not seized, the opportunity is lost.
For example, the 1937 King Edward VIII sovereign we bought in 2014 was last purchased by it’s previous owner in 1984. We outbid everyone setting a new world record for the most ever paid for an English coin of £516,000. Despite having to pay a record breaking high price, we later resold it in 2021 for over £1,000,000 breaking the world record again.
After more than 50 years in the Numismatic World we have bought hundreds of millions worth of rare coins. The only criteria that has been applied in every purchase is that the coin must be the very best that we can find.
Why is only the best our mantra? History has shown that the best has dramatically outperformed average. Most new investors wrongly think that buying quantities of cheap coins is the best investment strategy. Therefore, client education is the key to successful investing. Through learning what makes a great Numismatic coin, one can really enjoy collecting and importantly have an alternative investment of high calibre. Once a client understands that the best strategy is owning one great Ultra Rarity than a room full of cheap coins, the next discussion is the cost requirements of participation. With Ultra Rarities costing a minimum of several hundred thousand, not everyone can afford them. Therefore, the Five Co- Owners was created.
The greatest example of buying the best vs average can be explained by the very first World record purchase.
In 1990, Greg Holloway set the world record for the first sale in history for any rare coin to bring over $1 million by selling the famous, King of Siam set for $3.3 million. Even more amazing is that this sale took place during a recession, proving once again that rare coins are the ultimate hedge.
It was more than a decade before this record was broken again. Greg had the wisdom to know that it may be many years to obtain such a Numismatic legend again and had to buy it.
Today’s value is $25,000,000.
While the King of Siam set has multiplied in value many times, average silver dollars have risen only a small amount.
Everyone asks why he did not keep it? However, with all traders you must have working capital to buy the next big treasure and the $3.3 million sale netted a fantastic profit.
